July 10, 2016

Time: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Location: First Christian Church :: 650 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee
Title: Slow Church: An Evening with the Authors
Description: From the organizers: “Join us for an evening of conversation with C. Christopher Smith and John Pattison, co-authors of the award-winning book Slow Church: Cultivating Community in the Patient Way of Jesus. In a day and age in which spiritual seekers of all generations value authenticity over production and relationship over marketing, Smith and Pattison’s book serves as an important conversation starter for churches longing to sculpt a more authentic sense of community. Released in 2014, Slow Church takes its name from the ‘slow food’ movement, and according to Pattison, serves as ‘a call to unmask and repent of our industrialized and fast-food approaches to church.’ It’s an accessible read and yet represents a depth of research, thought, and conversation that is unique to books that focus on church building or growth. The Slow Church emphasis on quality of relationship with God and among members of a church community over metrics and numbers is both a terrific challenge and exciting invitation for churches across the theological spectrum.”
